Problems I can help with

At SC-Therapies, I address a wide range of psychological issues:

Anxiety

Feeling afraid is very much part of the human experience and a survival instinct. The experience of anxiety is very similar to the experience of fear – the real difference is that anxiety occurs in the absence of real danger, only perceived or potential danger. Our task is for you to become an expert in identifying unhelpful thoughts that create disturbance, both physically and emotionally.

Assertiveness & Anger Management

I can help you understand the effects of not being assertive, how emotions and thoughts prevent assertive action, the effects of not being able to say no, handling and responding criticism and how to handle disappointment. Assertiveness is a skill that is not taught and so individuals typically navigate their way through life moving from being passive and/or being aggressive angry and frustrated. Being assertive is an important communication skill which can reduce depression and anxiety and improve self-esteem.

Low Self-Esteem

REBT helps clients move from a self-critical to a self-accepting stance, reprocess past traumas and understand their triggers to build a healthier self-image. I use CBT and philosophies from Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy to challenge deep seated, challenge core beliefs about oneself in order to develop a healthy self-image.

Mood Management

Depression and anxiety share common symptoms. I work on breaking down vicious cycles by addressing the deep-seated thoughts that perpetuate these conditions.

Health Anxieties

Health-related anxieties can cause significant distress. I provide information about health anxiety, including how it develops, how it is maintained and how to manage excessive worries and concerns and unhelpful behaviours and such as the need for reassurance.

REBT for Students and Teens

I offer REBT, a holistic, evidence-based approach that helps students and teens manage emotional dysregulation, ADHD symptoms, and behavioural challenges. By focusing on building self-esteem and assertiveness, this therapy supports sustainable emotional regulation and reduces the risk of self-harm.
